Position Description
The Green Family Foundation NeighborhoodHELP™ Mobile Health Center is recruiting for an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) to join FIU’s team of professionals.
Duties Include:
• Responds to and assists in treatment of patients with emergency and nonemergency needs per Mobile Health Center (MHC) policies and procedures
• As needed, conducts triage, such as checking vitals and obtaining chief compliant in collaboration with the Clinical Nurse Specialist
• Provides coverage for the Clinical Nurse Specialist, including phlebotomy, immunizations, EKG’s, and spirometry.
• Documents in the Electronic Health Record
• Updates physician on patient needs
• Monitors patient flow between mobile van and community site.
• Registers and communicates with patients as part of the registration and encounter closure.
• Ensures safety of FIU physicians, staff, patients and students at all Mobile Health Clinic locations.
• Creates, maintains and responds to all incidents regarding the Mobile Health Clinic.
• In case of emergency, follows the established protocols to communicate with 911, local law enforcement and /or FIU security as applicable
• Operates the Mobile Health Clinic to and from locations as requested by the Mobile Health Center.
• Maintains documentation for all Mobile Health Clinic maintenance repairs and liaises with the vans manufacturer and the FIU Vehicle Services.
• Prepares or assists in the preparation of patients for transport, ensuring compliance with emergency medical transport regulations, protocol, and procedure.
• Provides direct paramedical and comprehensive patient care as required in each individual case. · Leads, guides, and/or assists in the training of lower level techs and/or students, as specifically assigned.
• Inspects emergency medical equipment to ensure serviceability and compliance with safety and infection control regulations and standards.
• Completes and transfers patient care information and records as per established procedures.
• Performs related duties as required or as directed. The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that are logically related to the position
Minimum Qualifications:
Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) in the State of Florida in accordance with chapter 401, Florida Statutes
Graduate of an accredited EMT Program.
Minimum one year experience as a Licensed Emergency Medical Technician.
Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS/CPR) certification
Valid Florida Driver's License.
Desired Qualifications
• Ability to work a flexible schedule- Availability to perform job during the weekend and early evenings
• Able to communicate in Creole and/or Spanish.
• Valid Florida Driver's License CDL-Class B
