Job Details:
The Flight Paramedic is responsible for the delivery of high quality critical care transportation to critically ill and injured patients under a variety of conditions. High quality critical care includes assessment, treatment and triage utilizing guidelines and policies as directed by St. John's MedFlight / ARCH operational and medical policies and procedures.The Flight Paramedic is an integral part of the critical care transportation team and is responsible for carrying out the mission, goals and objectives of St. John's and ARCH Air Medical Service, Inc. The Flight Paramedic is responsible for assuring that all company employees make safety the number one priority in all activities.
Minimum Qualifications
Education: High school diploma. Successful completion of a N.H.T.S.A. D.O.T. approved EMT-P training program.
Experience: Minimum of 5 years full time experience at the paramedic level in the prehospital setting.
Licensure:
Certifications: National Registry EMT-P Certification and current EMT-P certification in one of the following: Kansas, Missouri or Oklahoma, certification must be obtained in all 3 within 6 weeks of hire. BLS Basic Life Support. ACLS Advanced Cardiac Life Support. PALS Pediatric Advanced Life Support. NRP Neonatal Resuscitation Provider Within 6 Months Of Hire. BTLS Basic Trauma Life Support or PHTLS Pre Hospital Trauma Life Support Within 6 Months of hire. ATLS Advanced Trauma Life Support Audit Within 6 Months Of Hire Or 1st Available Class.
Other: Attend mandatory staff meetings as scheduled with dates posted in January of every year. The Medical Supervisor is to be notified in advance in the event that attendance will be compromised. Staff that misses a staff meeting with either an excused or unexcused absence must obtain content immediately upon return to work form the Medical Supervisor of the Director of Patient Care Services.Attend mandatory educational events. Maintain current certifications and submit to the Medical Education Coordinator. Perform and provide documentation of one intubation?s per quarter to the quality assurance manager or Medical Education Coordinator. If no live intubations are obtained in a given quarter, mannequin Jab will be completed with the Medical Education Coordinator or Medical Supervisor. If a minimum of 6 live intubations is not successfully completed in the course of patient transport during an entire 12-month period an operating room clinical is to be scheduled.Complete within established deadlines as annual review of the following: Fire suppression/Emergency base procedures, Survival, Hazardous materials, Altitude physiology, Aircraft safety/communications, Latex allergy update, Infection control, OSHA annual training.
Preferred Qualifications
Certifications: FP-C Certified Flight Paramedic preferred.
