Job Description
The Firefighter/Paramedic is responsible for a variety of daily operational and response level activities of the Fire Department. Responsible for maintain fire and EMS equipment as assigned for the given duty shift. Depending upon assignment, the Firefighter Paramedic will be involved in fire and/or medical operations. In fire operations may be responsible for fire apparatus operation which includes driving to the scene and pump operation as needed. If not in the engineer capacity, will be member in a team assigned to control the incident exercising different tasks to mitigation. For medical response will be involved in direct care and treatment of patients involved in accidents, suffering illness, injury, cardiac event, strokes, etc. In addition, may be tasked with mitigation and control of Haz Mat Incidents, Technical Rescues, Water Rescue, etc. Daily operations involve training, equipment maintenance/repair/inspection, public relations, pre-fire planning, report completion, etc.
Special Requirements:
Possession of a valid Florida Operator's License without restrictions other than corrective lenses
Must be a Florida Certified Firefighter II with State Compliance, Florida State Advanced Cardiac Life Support, Pre-Hospital Life Support, Pediatric Advanced Life Support, and Completed a 16 hour Emergency Vehicle Operators Course. Physical Requirements:
Meets physical and medical requirements of NFPA 1582
Endure sustain physical activity under austere conditions
Lifting and carrying 45 pounds or greater
Swim 100 yards while wearing a personal flotation device
