Job Summary:
The Emergency Medical Technician is responsible for delivery of patient care. The EMT-IV provides patient care in the Emergency Center under the supervision of the RN or physician.

Essential Duties:
Adheres to State and Departmental protocols.
Practices in accordance with Public Health EMS guidelines and FCC guidelines.
Assesses patient condition and implements proper treatment within scope of EMT-IV training.
Recognizes and identifies critical changes in patient acuity and implements appropriate treatment.
Evaluates patient response to care provided and intervenes appropriately.
Evaluates effectiveness of medication and treatment (i.e., splints, IV infusions, dressing changes, etc.).
Able to efficiently select infant/pediatric/adult emergency equipment needs for the paramedic to use in emergency care.
Evaluates appropriateness of IV type and site in conjunction with the Paramedic when providing emergency care.

Qualifications
Education:
High school graduate or equivalent required.
Graduate of an accredited EMT-IV program required.

Experience:
One year experience preferred but not required.
Basic EKG and Thrombolytic therapy course within first six months of employment.

License/Certification:
Currently licensed in this state or eligible for licensure by endorsement (i.e. reciprocity from other states and National Registry).
BTLS required
BCLS required
EVOC required
Current valid State driver's license with current MVR required.
