Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Graduate of D.O.T. EMT course. Meets guidelines set forth by the National Registry of EMT's.
Possess and maintains a valid Wisconsin Drivers license acceptable to the county's insurance carrier.
Attend a minimum of 24 hours of continuing education relating to prehospital emergency care. Complete an approved EMT Refresher Course every two years.
Maintain current CPR/BLS certificate for the health care provider.
Prehospital emergency care - ambulance, fire, or rescue service, and hazardous material awareness preferred.
Possess current State of Wisconsin Emergency Medical Technician - Basic licensure.
Ability to perform practical skills as outlined in State of WI practical skill standards.
Strong interpersonal communication skills, ability to read and write, interpret documents such as trade journals, product information, policies, texts, and protocols and basics at operation of a computer.
Personal attributes of initiative, cooperation, dependability and organization.
Must be able to use good judgement.
