Job Description

The Public Health Services Department is inviting self-motivated, energetic, caring, autonomous team players to fill a position as EMS Coordinator and make a difference in our community.

Functions of an EMS Coordinator include:

Oversee all aspects of EMS for compliance with local and state requirements;
Evaluated field performance of personnel for adherence to protocols and procedures;
Conduct research into evidence-based, best practices to update protocols;
Participate in public education campaigns such as Hands-Only CPR;
Review information and data to identify system strengths and weaknesses;
Disaster preparedness, planning and response coordination locally, regionally, and statewide;
Participates in system-wide quality improvement activities;
Investigate complaints regarding pre-hospital care provided by field personnel;
Liasion between field personnel, hospital emergency room personnel, County public service departments, EMS agencies and committees and private EMS providers;
Conducts training for first responder field personnel, MICNs, and dispatchers;
EMS on-call for after-hours support during incidents, hospital support and system coordination


Additional Information
Compensation and benefits include weekends and holidays off in addition to 23.71-28.94 hourly pay, health/dental/vision insurance, retirement plan and longevity pay, vacation leave, sick leave and paid holidays. Job Requirements
Age 18
Education Paramedic License
Experience Four years Prehospital emergency care

Additional Requirement :
State of California paramedic license, four (4) years of experience in pre-hospital emergency care, valid class C driver's license, ability to obtain Kern County accreditation within 6 months.
