Transportation - As one of the community's largest providers of emergency and scheduled transportation, HealthEast Medical Transportation provides Advanced Life Support, scheduled and 911 services, Critical Care transport, Basic Life Support, wheelchair transportation, courier services, and coordination of air transfers. HealthEast Medical Transportation has an onsite dispatch center, full-service shop to maintain its fleet of vehicles, and EMS Academy providing CPR, BLS and continuing education classes to staff and community partners.

Department Overview: 
BLS (BASIC LIFE SUPPORT) 1275-20 for EMT BLS/HET The largest provider of BLS service in the metro area, HealthEast's BLS service provides transportation 24-hours-a-day, seven-days-a-week, for non- emergency medical stretcher patients. BLS ambulances are staffed with two Emergency Medical Technicians, who are trained to provide oxygen and maintain I.V.'s. Staff are experienced in emergency and non-emergency transports, including flight team support, assistance on critical care transports, 911 support, hospice and crisis intervention transports.

Primary Function & Major Responsibilities 
Provides BLS transport care to patients during inter-facility transfers and 911 calls as necessary.
Maintains knowledge of, and complies with, all relevant laws, regulations and policies, procedures and standards.
Actively participates in creating and implementing improvements to achieve clinical, satisfaction and/or efficiency outcomes.
Provides BLS transport care to patients during interfaculty transfers and 911 calls as necessary.
Assists ALS staff in emergent and non-emergent responses as deemed necessary.
Transports patients safely according to clinical and operational guidelines.
Documents patient information in EHR and/or other electronic system in accordance with program standards, department policies/procedures.
Safely and efficiently transfers care of patients to other care providers in appropriate setting (LTC, Hospital etc)
Remains in good standing with the HEMT office of the Medical Director.
Qualifications: 
Education
Trade or vocational certification required.

Experience:
No experience required. Valid drivers license and DMV record that meet the HealthEast insurability requirements.

Knowledge:
Ability to safely lift, pull, push and carry a minimum of 150 pounds.

Credentials:
Essential:

Basic Life Support (BLS) from American Heart Association.
Emergency Med Tech Basic (EMT-B) from MN Emergency Medical Services Regulatory Board.
Nationally Registered Emergency Med Tech (NREMT-B) from National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians.
Regular/Temporary Status: Regular
