Job Description

Wisestaff is seeking multiple Paramedics at Fort Belvoir Community Hospital in Fort Belvoir, VA. All shifts are 12 hours long and run from 6 AM – 6 PM or 6 PM – 6 AM. The company does offer benefits as well. If you are interested in part time, the hourly rate is $21.00. If you are interested in full time, the hourly rate is $22.00.
Technician shall be a graduate of an accredited medical assistant program and shall be currently certified, or certified within 6 months, by the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) or be eligible to take the examination.
Technician must have an IV therapy certification.
Must possess and maintain a current certification of Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS); Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS).
Must hold current, National EMS Certification by the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians.
Medical Technician personnel shall have at least one-year Emergency Department experience and no more than 12 months since their last Emergency Department work assignment.

Here are the duties of the job:


Prepare appropriate patient documentation, vehicle use documentation, and reports to ensure medical requirements are met.
While on duty, paramedics will deliver EMT-P level care to all patients in the hospital within the Operational Medical Director protocol standards.
Apply advanced emergency medicine techniques based on the diagnosis of the patient and the approach or combination of approaches that will most effectively sustain the patient’s life.
Apply knowledge of emergency communication techniques, and the operation of communication equipment to accurately obtain and relay information from dispatchers and health care providers. Report in clear, concise manner, both orally and in writing what injuries/illnesses were identified and what patient care was administered, both at the emergency scene and in transit.
Obtain vital signs, procure height and weight, perform urinary catherizations, wound irrigations, prepare specimens for laboratory testing and remove uncomplicated sutures.
Maintain readiness of all inventoried medications on ambulance.
Give first aid to minor trauma such as burns, eye injuries and animal bites and clean simple wounds.
Operate equipment such as ventilators, suction machines, 12 lead ECG and cardiac monitoring.
Initiate intravenous therapy in accordance with clinic physician guidance or protocols.
Maintain competency based credentials that allow for skills performed in the clinic setting at or above those defined as a paramedic provider.
