Job Description
The Cy-Fair Volunteer Fire Department is accepting applications for the position of Department EMS Training Coordinator, District Chief.

EMS Training Coordinator:

This position is under the supervision of the Deputy Chief – Training and Development but works closely with the EMS Division. This position is responsible for developing, administering and evaluating curriculum and training aids in support of comprehensive EMS training for the Department. In addition, the employee coordinates continuing education programs, serves as a liaison for training purposes to other EMS departments and training institutions and state, federal, and local agencies.

Essential Job Functions:
Duties may include, but are not limited to the following:
Develops and facilitates training activities of the EMS members and others. Conducts research on applicable education topics. Organizes information and develops related training presentations. Evaluates effectiveness of training.
Works with EMS Supervisors and QA/QI positions to identify and provide remedial training as necessary.
Oversees the Field Training Officer Program: provides initial FTO training and coordinates the FTO program
Reviews SOPS and protocols and suggests revisions as needed
Coordinates, maintains and ensures all certifications/recertifications/licenses are completed in a timely manner and files all necessary paperwork with appropriate agencies.
Develops and facilitates continuing education programs/modules for EMS members
Track, maintain, purchase, monitor and administer all required immunizations of all of the Department personnel as deemed necessary by the Department.
Monitor, track and maintain records of exposures to communicable diseases or other medical monitoring as deemed necessary by the Department and statutorily.
Participate in the daily training activities and coordinate the interaction and training between our department and other EMS providers in the surrounding areas.
Provide avenues for any member or employee to further their education and certifications.
Establish a training calendar for EMS training
Provide training to duty crew staff in the area of EMS.
Work with Lone Star College Cy-Fair to maintain and expand our role with the EMS training provided by the college.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Develop a course evaluation plan to make sure objectives are measurable and follow department policies.
Evaluate instructors to identify areas of strengths and weaknesses. Recommend changes to improve instructional style and communication methods. In addition, provide an opportunity for instructor feedback
Supervise other instructors and participants during training to guarantee that applicable safety standards and practices are followed in addition to meeting instructional goals.
Attends schools, conferences and other meetings to keep abreast of current trends in the field; represents the Department in a variety of local, regional, county, state and other organizations and committees.
Produces and submits yearly budget requests for training, schools, and supplies. Administers the Training Division budget on an ongoing basis.

Job Requirements
Additional Requirement :

Required Education, Degrees, Certifications, Experience, and/or License:
Current State of Texas or National Registered Paramedic.
Current Basic Life Support by American Heart Association.
Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support.
Current Basic Trauma Life Support or Pre-Hospital Trauma Life Support.
Current Pediatric Advanced Life Support or PEPP.
NIMS 100, 200, 700, 800
Current Texas Driver’s License.

Analyze the effectiveness of departmental operations, to diagnose operational problems, and to correlate the Department’s development with changing conditions within the community and industry.
Train and supervise personnel in the duties of their position

To establish effective working relationships with Department members, other agencies and the general public
Recognize and apply the most effective methods for teaching skills and developing programs
Develop computer based training programs
Plan, coordinate and execute large public events or training programs
Develop and implement long and short range goals and objectives
Handle multiple projects simultaneously and use good judgment in prioritizing work assignments

Knowledge of:
Theories, principles and techniques used to facilitate adult learning
Project planning and execution of principles and methods
Principles of healthcare delivery systems and emergency medical services
It is the policy of the Cy-Fair Volunteer Fire Department to subject all employees to the following:

Salary Information
