Job Description
Provides immediate medical treatment to injured or ill patients on-site and/or during transport to hospital.Maintains equipment. Assesses nature and extent of illness/injury and patient's history from available sources. Determines appropriate independent or collaborative response. Administers appropriate emergency medical care including life support procedures, decontamination protocols, obtaining EKG readings and vital statistics monitoring. May perform fluid/drug administration. If on transport team, they will communicate with medical personnel at hospital, reports/records observations, and follows directives until report and hand-off at hospital. Also they may navigate ambulance to scene of accident in response to emergency calls. Other duties as assigned.

Education: Completion of an accredited EMS-Paramedic training program.

LicensureCertification/Registration:Current licensure as an Emergency Medical Technician-Paramedic (EMTP) in the current State; Current Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) required. Pediatric Advance Life Support (PALS) and International Trauma Life Support (ITLS) preferred. Current valid State Driver's License (VDL) preferred . State licensure if required by state law.

Complexity Of Work: Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.

Required Experience: One year experience as a EMT-P preferred. Clinical experience through a EMS Paramedic Training program required.

Physical Requirements: Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patient, manual and finger dexterity, and eye-hand coordination. Requires standing and walking for extended periods of time. Frequently lifts and carries items weighing over 75 pounds. Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range. Requires working under stressful conditions and irregular hours. Exposure to communicable diseases and/or body fluids.


Job Requirements
