Job Description
We are currently accepting applications for a full-time (80 hrs/pay-period) benefit earning Emergency Medical Services Dispatcher position that requires the individual to be either an EMT or Paramedic. The Hennepin EMS Emergency Communication Center (ECC) is based at Hennepin County Medical Center. Staffed with 15 Emergency Medical Dispatchers, the center provides dispatching services, pre-arrival instruction and resource coordination and information to Hennepin EMS Paramedics, the Hennepin County EMS System, the region and the State of Minnesota. The ECC is a Secondary Public Safety Answering Point supporting Hennepin EMS Paramedics and managing deployment of up to 16 ambulances. Our Emergency Medical Dispatchers handle nearly 60,000 calls for service each year from the citizens and visitors of Hennepin County, Minnesota.

Hennepin EMS offers a competitive compensation and benefits package. The starting rate of pay is $21.40/hr,which is subject to the labor contract. Full medical & dental, disability and term life; covered by PERA Police/Fire pension.

Qualifications:
Must be certified by the State of MN EMSRB as an EMT or Paramedic
Must possess a valid MN driver’s license with a satisfactory driving recordincluding no more than two moving violations in the last three years.
Must possess a solid understanding of Windows based computers and programs.
Must be able to communication in stressful situations and have the ability to multitaskin a high paced environment.
Must be flexible with scheduling, be able to rotate shifts (day, evening or night) and work holidays or weekends.
Our ideal candidate would possess the equivalent of:
One (1) year of experiencein public safety dispatching within the past five (5) years; OR
One (1) year of current paid employment with a public safety agency or private emergency medical services agency
High level Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD),radio and telephone operation.
A thorough knowledge of Hennepin County geography.
