Job Description

The North Gilliam County Health District is accepting applications for the position of a full time Paramedic/Ambulance Director in rural Eastern Oregon. This individual will deliver high-quality service and basic, as well as advanced patient care in a professional, caring and cost effective manner. This individual will report to the NGCHD Administrator. This individual will organize and function as a full time Paramedic/Ambulance Director. This individual will recruit, supervise, train and mentor experienced and inexperienced EMT volunteers; discipline and commend subordinates; develop and maintain positive relationships between and among the ambulance service, its volunteers and the community at large.

Minimum Qualifications:
High School Diploma or GED.
Work experience, preferably in Health Care, preferred.
If not a current Oregon resident, obtain an Oregon driver’s license within 30 days of employment.
Be an Oregon or National Registry licensed Paramedic upon appointment or eligible for a provisional license; secure and remain Oregon Licensed as a condition of employment.
Current BCLS, PALS, ACLS Provider Certification (where applicable or required by state law).
Must reside in District within 90 days of following successful probation period.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Utilize medical equipment and procedures including defibrillator, EKG monitor, oxygen and suction devices, intravenous fluids, CPR and other procedures and medications as required to provide advanced medical care.
Develop and utilize triage skills to provide optimal efficiency during calls.
Provide patient care according to clinical protocols and safety requirements.
Lift and move patients as required to provide optimum care.
Communicate with receiving facility to receive medical direction and to provide critical information.
Recruit, train and continuously support volunteers.
Assure that apparatus and equipment are in emergency response condition.
Other duties as defined by the formal job description or as assigned.

District Demographics:
The North Gilliam County Health District provides emergency ambulance services along Interstate 84 and the Columbia River. The District covers approximately 30 miles of Interstate 84 along with rural area coverage and service to a city of approximately 600. Total service area is approximately 370 square miles. District is located approximately 35 miles East of the Columbia River Gorge National Scenic Area; windsurfing, rodeos, golf, fishing and hunting are all close by as is snow skiing on nearby Mt. Hood and World class whitewater rafting on the Deschutes and White Salmon Rivers.

Salary and Benefits:
Starting salary range $30,000 -$40,000 depending upon experience/education. Plus benefit package.
