This is a full time position beginning with the Fall 2013-2014 academic year . Starting salary $52,607 – $87,743* depending on qualifications and experience.


Start Date: August 2013.

Organizational Function and Responsibilities:
This position is responsible for instruction in all levels of the Emergency Medical Services Department program at the technical diploma and associate degree level. This includes developing a relevant and progressive curriculum, designing and implementing effective learning strategies and environments, delivering instruction of high quality, assessing student learning, advising students, and participating in college service activities at the department, division and college levels.

Essential Duties:
The following duties are typically expected of this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.
1. Responsible for instruction in the EMS programs including but not limited to the following courses and programs: Emergency Medical Responder, Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), Advanced EMT, EMT – Intermediate and Paramedic. Position requires travel using personal vehicle, transporting and loading/unloading required equipment for courses, evening and weekend scheduling.
2. Develop and plan appropriate instructional strategies, including alternative delivery strategies when appropriate including but not limited to hybrid, face-to-face and on-line course delivery.
3. Assist and advise students who have problems with assignments, tests, grades, course content, career concerns, and other academic matters.
4. Evaluate student performance and provide regular feedback.
5. Actively work with other personnel in student recruitment, retention and job placement. This includes developing strategies aimed at the recruitment and retention of minority students.
6. Develop and maintain curriculum in a variety of non-traditional formats to meet student needs in collaboration with EMS department and other college staff; participate in instructional and curriculum articulation activities with other programs and other schools of instruction.
7. Function without direct supervision in a team environment with the ability to support a cohesive department atmosphere.
8. Comply with college and external policies, procedures, regulations and directions regarding student testing, record keeping, advanced standing, providing grades on a timely basis, maintaining office hours for student assistance and counseling, etc.
9. Assist students in developing work experience assignments such as clinical affiliations, work study assignments, team projects, etc.
10. Attend school, department, program and advisory committee meetings; participate in appropriate staff development activities such as diversity awareness, technology training, etc.
11. Maintain certification as a Wisconsin Technical College System instructor and the Wisconsin Department of Health Services Instructor II.

Qualifications:
1. Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution.
2. Two years (4000 hours) of Emergency Medical Services work experience.
3. Certified or eligible for certification by the Wisconsin Department of Health Services at the Instructor II level (Wisconsin Administrative Code DHS 110.28) and the Wisconsin Technical College System (WTCS) to teach EMS courses.
4. Licensed by the State of Wisconsin as an EMT, Advanced EMT (EMT – Intermediate Technician) EMT – Intermediate, Paramedic, or Certified Emergency Nurse, or obtain within one year.
5. Certification by the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians, or obtain within one year.
