Position Information
Here at WakeMed, our Mobile Care Services team handles more than 17500 ground and air critical care transports annually. Utilizing a fleet of 20 ground ambulances and one rotor wing air ambulance, the adult and pediatric speciality care teams provide medical transport 24 hours/day. The role of the Emergency Medical Technician is to provide patient care and /or operation of an ambulance as part of the Medical Center's critical and non-critical transport program. Operate's type I, II, and III ambulances. Provides documentation of BLS patient conditions and cares as needed for patients within the scope limits of practice for an EMT-Basic. Cleans and exhibits proper operation of ambulance, associated equipment and work area. Performs routine daily inspections and preventive maintenance of ambulances. Other duties that may be assigned.

Experience Requirements :
One year of experience as an EMT driving an ambulance with an EMS system or medical transport service required. Three years experience as an EMT driving an ambulance with an EMS system or medical transport service preferred.

Education Requirements :
High school graduate or equivalent required. Certification -or- Associates degree from a college or technical school in Emergency Medical Technician or Emergency Medical Science required. Current certification as an EMT in the state of North Carolina required.

Licensure/Certification Requirements :
Hours of Work : 36 hrs/week. 7p-7a. (3) x 12 hour shifts
Weekend Requirements : As Needed
Call Requirements : As Needed
