Job Summary:
Under general supervision the Critical Care Paramedic is a professional team member who is responsible for providing direct and indirect patient care. The Critical Care Paramedic shall provide basic, advanced and critical care life support for all ages, utilizing protocols and on line medical control. Working as a team member the critical care paramedic shall assess and provide patient care as per department protocols. The Critical Care Paramedic works in conjunction with the Registered Nurse (RN) delivering patient care. Adheres to the Florida Hospital Corporate Compliance Plan and to all rules and regulations of all applicable local, state and federal agencies and accrediting bodies. Actively participates in outstanding customer service and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all.
Job Responsibilities:
Demonstrates, through behavior, Florida Hospital's core values of Integrity, Compassion, Balance, Excellence, Stewardship, and Teamwork as outlined in the organization's Performance Excellence Program.
Helps in completing medication, supplies and equipment inventories each shift, restocking as needed. Completes and submits logs as per department protocol. Keeps the work environment clean and organized. Maintains the unit in a constant state of readiness. Completes QA of charts for patient safety and improved outcomes.
Utilizes working knowledge of the service areas and take the most direct route to reach a destination. Operates emergency vehicles safely in a variety of weather and emergent conditions in accordance to established safety standards. Effectively communicates delays and updates to dispatch. Immediately reports any damage or vehicle issues to the supervisor.
Documents patient assessments, provides interventions with accurate administration and calculation of medications and the responses, as per department protocols' and FH policy. Utilizes specific knowledge in emergency care of pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients.
Works as a team member with the RN, able to effectively communicate, assessments and responses during transport. Provides a complete verbal and written document for hand off of care and patient safety.
Follows department SOPs (standard operating procedures), treatment protocols' and use of available resources.
Proficiency in understanding and use of equipment/systems in the department to include but not limited to the Right Cad, EPCR, Cerner, cardiac monitor, medication pumps and stretchers.
Florida Hospital Facility Profile:
Florida Hospital Winter Garden will feature a free-standing, state of the art emergency department that will serve the West Orange Community. The facility will also include an outpatient imaging center, outpatient surgery center, outpatient laboratory services and a multispecialty clinic that will include a variety of physician practices to serve the community's needs. This three-story 97,000-square-foot facility is projected to open in early 2016.

Knowledge, Skills, Education and Experience Required:
Graduate of a paramedic program.
Five years Advanced Life Support transport experience.
One year experience as a Critical Care Paramedic for the Critical Care ground team.
Basic computer skills
American Heart Association (AHA) Basic life support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider
AHA Advanced cardiovascular life support (ACLS)
AHA Pediatric advanced life support (PALS)
Associates of Science (AS) or Bachelor of Science (BS) in Health Related Field.
Ambulance transport knowledge (Preferred)
AHA Neonatal Resuscitation Program certification (NRP) (Preferred)
Licensure, Certification, or Registration Required:
Current Paramedic license with State of Florida, Department of Health
Critical Care Paramedic certification (CCP-C)
Commercial Emergency Vehicle Operator (CEVO) or Emergency Vehicle Operations Course (EVOC)
Active Class E Florida Driver's License, or Commercial Driver's License (CDL), and driving record in accordance with FH policy.
Instructor status of one AHA certification ACLS or PALS (Preferred)
