Advanced Medical Instructor (AMI)

General Experience:
Working as a member of an instructor team the AMI provides medical instruction to Special Operations Forces from across DOD, principally at the JSOMTC facilities on Fort Bragg, NC. The AMI provides advanced instruction across the entire range of combat and clinical medical disciplines. Instructors work alongside and in cooperation with military and government civilian instructors to provide training in
accordance with existing Programs of Instruction (POIs). AMIs may be required to supervise other instructors or to work alone. The AMI possesses extensive background in combat related medical capabilities and techniques and is able to integrate lessons learned from field combat experience into instruction for students. The AMI may contribute to instructional improvement processes including POI review, quality review, development and implementation of evaluation tools, and development and implementation of practical exercises and scenarios. The AMI will participate in government mandated continuing education and skills training related both to medical skills related to program requirements and to instructional techniques and procedures. This position may require some travel to participate in mobile training teams. The AMI may be required to work overtime, weekends and nights in order to meet emerging training requirements.

Specialized Knowledge and Skills:
Pediatric Education for Pre-Hospital Professionals Instructor (PEPP Instructor)
Basic Life Support Instructor (BLS-I)
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Instructor
Instructor Training Course (ITC)
Must have prior military experience with a strong preference for SOF (any service).
Must be graduates of a World Health Organization accredited medical school or American Medical Association/American Academy of Physician Assistants accredited physician assistant program.
Must have passed the United States Medical Licensing Examination or National Committee on the Certification of Physician Assistants certification test or equivalent nursing licensure exam.
Have at least one year of experience as a member of a USSOCOM deployable Special Operations unit or at least one year of experience as an instructor in a USSOCOM medical pipeline course.
Must possess or be eligible for a SECRET clearance.

Physical Requirements/Working Environment:
Must be able to walk or stand on level and/or inclined surfaces up to eight (8) hours per day and sit for up to three (3) hours per day.
Must be able to routinely climb / descend stairs.
Must be able to routinely grasp or handle objects, use finger dexterity, bend elbows / knees, and reach above / below shoulders.
Must be able to read and interpret newspaper and typewritten print.
Must be able to communicate by voice and detect sound by ear.
Must be able to distinguish color and judge three-dimensional depths.
