Responsible for providing high quality emergency and non-emergency medical care and transportation to patients while providing exceptional customer service. This includes assessment, triage, and treatment utilizing standards and guidelines established by American Ambulance Medical Director(s); assesses the nature and extent of illness or injury to establish and prioritize the care needed for safe transport of the patient to the appropriate facility; is responsible for carrying out the mission and goals of American Ambulance assuring that safety remains the highest priority
throughout the transport continuum.
Job Description
Customer service
- Customer relations: Works collaboratively with sending and receiving facilities and medical professionals to ensure the best possible outcome for patients and customer experiences
- Family relations: Communicates effectively, efficiently and compassionately with family and/or patient guardians to insure the best possible outcome for patients and the client’s experiences
- Provides care from the initial contact until patient care is relinquished to the accepting medical facility; maintains thorough patient care documentation
- Practices care within his/her scope of practice as defined by the state EMS Agency and American Ambulance Medical Director(s) Protocols for American Ambulance
- Maintains documentation of required licensure, certifications, continuing education, safety training, OSHA and HIPAA training, EVOC/CVO, FEMA required certifications and other related requirements
- Attends continuing education programs pertinent to his/her area of practice
- Knowledgeable in use and routine maintenance of all equipment and supplies used by American Ambulance
- Responsible for reporting medical equipment failures and taking initial steps to ensure repair of equipment as directed
- Maintains adequate supplies and equipment onboard ambulance to deliver patient care and maintain compliance
- Keeps assigned vehicle clean and orderly to insure rapid response and professional appearance to all transport requests
- Maintains positive interpersonal relationships with colleagues, EMS Representatives, hospitals and the public
- Work collaboratively with EMTs, Paramedics, and/or Registered Nurses (RNs)
- Completes all required documentation (Written and Electronic)
- Complies with safety standards to assure safety of self, medical personnel, patient, and equipment
- Serves as a role model, educator and clinical resource to other staff
- Participates in American Ambulance activities, projects and committees
- Attend and participates in meetings according to established departmental guidelines
- Participates in departmental quality improvement activities as assigned
- Maintaining a clean and complete uniform, personal hygiene, and professional, pleasant and polite demeanor to all persons with whom the individual comes in contact with while on duty
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Must be at least 18 years of age
SKILLS: Skills as required to practice as an EMT as defined by assigned state scope of practice.
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
- Must be able to communicate and understand English verbally and in writing
- Valid Driver’s License
- EMT
- CPR (AHA BLS for Healthcare Provider or ARC CPR for Professional Rescuers)
- EVOC/CVO
- FEMA Certifications : 100; 200; 700; 800; & HAZMAT
SKILLS: Skills as required to practice as an EMT as defined by assigned state scope of practice.
