Description
PURPOSE: To support the practitioners in providing Great Care. Fast. to MedExpress patients.
WORKING RELATIONSHIPS: Reports directly to the Center Manager; works in conjunction with physicians, mid-level practitioners, office and clinical staff.
RESPONSIBILITIES include but are not limited to the following:
The administration of medical services. Responsible for ensuring the well-being of patients and for providing a positive, supportive environment for patients and other staff.
Assists the practitioner with examinations, procedures, and other duties.
Responsible for assessing, screening and triaging patients.
Responsible for administration of medications per orientation and training designation.
Documents and maintains medical records.
Collects and documents vital signs.
Collects and prepares specimens for laboratory analysis. Assesses and properly handles test results.
Prepares exam rooms. Responsible for decontamination of equipment and stocking of supplies.
Responsible for assisting the physician in calling patients and informing them of their lab and x-ray results and for calling critical patients back to check on their health status; scheduling physician referrals; obtaining insurance information for specialist’s referrals and pharmacy issues; and patient education.
Attends facility in-services and required staff training and meetings.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Requires working in a clinical setting. The noise level is moderate and there is a potential for exposure to infectious diseases and blood borne pathogens.
Travel to other clinics may be required.
Position Requirements
TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:
Must be a graduate of a training facility for Emergency Medical Technicians at the EMT – Paramedic level. Current state certification (if applicable), NREMT certification, and CPR certification preferred.
Clinical experience in related field is preferred.
KNOWLEDGE OF:
The principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.
Applicable federal, state and local laws and regulations including the requirements of the HIPAA and OSHA and applicable state rules and regulations pertinent to medical practices.
Computerized information systems used in business applications and clinical management systems (EMR).
Accreditation and certification requirements and the ability to maintain all appropriate licenses.
ABILITY TO:
Respond to requests and inquiries from the general public in person and over the telephone.
Exercise tact and diplomacy in dealing with sensitive, complex and confidential patient issues and situations.
Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.
Learn computer software programs; enter and maintain accurate data and statistical information in order to consistently prepare clear and concise reports, correspondence and other written materials.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Requires the ability to stand and sit for hours at a time. Some bending and stooping is required.
Must be able to use manual dexterity in relation to clinical requirements.
Must be able to lift 50lbs.
