EMT/Paramedic Instructor
DSCC is currently accepting applicants for a full-timeEMT/Paramedic Instructor. This individual reports to the Director of the EMT-P Program Director and assumes EMT-P Programmatic instructional activities at both the Jimmy Naifeh Center in Covington and the Dyersburg Campus.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
A. Instruction:
a. Must possess the ability to develop, evaluate and revise relevant curriculum materials for teaching classroom, lab and clinical activities
b. Provides delivery of didactic material, demonstration of psychomotor skills and verification of assessment skill proficiency in the EMT-P Program
c. Collaborates with EMT-P teaching teams and assists with setting up practice labs
d. Assists with the recruitment and advisement of E MT-P students
e. Maintains lab equipment and supplies necessary for demonstration
f. Submits orders for needed lab equipment
g. Maintains inventory of equipment, videos, software and supplies;provides an inventory to the director as needed and at the beginning of each academic year.
h. Establish and maintains clinical rotation schedules in all areas
B. Guidance:
a. Maintain student records related to clinical competency and progress
b. Participate in division, college and community activities/committees
c. Maintain MSDS sheets for each chemical/solution in the lab
d. Maintain posted schedule of office hours
e. Provides student guidance
QUALIFICATIONS:
A. Education:
a. Associate Degree required from an accredited college/university
b. Must be licensed as an EMT-Paramedic in the state of Tennessee in good standing without history of revocation, denial or suspension.
c. Current endorsement as a Board approved trauma, cardiac, and pediatric at the provider level.
B. Experience:
a. Licensed emergency care experience shall include a minimum of five (5) years practice
b. Must have completed am EMS board approved Instructor Coordinator course
c. Minimum of two years teaching experience a minimum of 2 years in an EMS-P Program required
C. Personal:
a. Proven effective teaching ability
b. Demonstrates the ability to work and communicate effectively with both groups and individuals in a variety of situations and settings
c. Exemplifies integrity, creativity and ethical standards
