Overview:
Oversees design, development, planning, preparation, execution and assessment of medical
skill development, sustainment, and certification programs for the
Allied Health Sciences Military School’s medical instructors. Provides
for instruction in medical treatment skills, life support methods and
emergency treatment procedures to Allied Health Sciences Military School
faculty using AMEDD doctrine and current US Department of
Transportation/National Traffic Safety Board standards for Emergency
Medical Technician (EMT) training, certification and continuing
education as the basis for training.
A. Duties
Supervises
and directs assigned personnel in the development, implementation,
assessment and revision of course material for use in EMT training and
related subject matter incorporated into MNG Programs Of Instruction.
Serves as subject matter expert for medical skill development and
sustainment programs for Allied Health Sciences Military School faculty
development training and assessment.
Trains, coaches and assists the
AHSMS staff in developing, implementing, and maintaining continuing
education programs for instructors.
Coordinates with faculty
development and emergency medical services trainers for implementation
and integration of AHSMS medical instructor skill development,
assessment and sustainment programs.
Assesses classroom instruction
and practical exercises to ensure adherence to standards and appropriate
application of instruction and performance assessment methodologies.
Supervises and directs development for medical instructor training
programs, to include trainer rehearsals and reviews of lesson plans and
materials for presentations.
Provides emergency medical services subject matter expert input for medical doctrine, curriculum, and training development.
Coordinates professional certification education and training
requirements with faculty development trainers to ensure appropriate
standards are incorporated into programs.
Manage, analyze, and evaluate the delivery of training sessions, to ensure organizational goals and objectives are met
Programs and plans integration for new training and development
initiatives by analyzing needs in coordination with faculty development
trainers
Coordinates execution for periodic medical instructor
evaluations coupled with effective remedial programs as part of quality
control process in coordination with faculty development and emergency
medical services trainers.
Conduct research to provide information
on emergency medical services provider skills and knowledge needed by
staff and faculty personnel to achieve standards of acceptable
performance.
Coordinates with the Manager, Medical Unit Training
Branch and Chief Trainers for training assistance teams to obtain
feedback based on training observations and ensure standardization of
exportable medical training programs.
Participates in external training team activities and performs other tasks as required and directed.
Assists designated AHSMS course supervisors in performing coordination
with other AHSMS staff, faculty elements and designated training and
training support sites to support success for training efforts.
B.
Independence: Performs under general supervision of the Manager, Allied
Health Sciences Education Branch. Performs within broad objectives with
significant choice of methods, frequently develops methods to achieve
desired results.
C. Supervisory Responsibilities: Five (5) employees assigned to Staff and Faculty Development Section, HAD-AHSEB
Qualifications:
A.
Education Level: Associate of Applied Sciences or higher-level
education program for Emergency Medical Technicians (Paramedic). A
combination of five (5) years technical training and experience is
acceptable in lieu of formal education requirement. Current
certification in accordance with US Department of Transportation
National Traffic Safety Board standards as EMT-P (Paramedic). Current
certifications in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Pre-hospital Life Support
(PHTLS) or its equivalent are required; instructor certifications
preferred. Certifications for Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS),
Advanced Medical Life Support (AMLS), and Pediatric Education for
Pre-Hospital Professional (PEPP) or equivalent must be obtained within
first 12 months of employment and maintained throughout employment..
B.
Experience: Five (5) years experience as an EMT-Paramedic. At least two
(2) years experience in providing emergency medical services –related
instruction or training, to include assessing clinical skills.
C.
Specific knowledge, skill, ability, requirements: Working knowledge of
emergency medical services doctrine, training, and educational methods.
Ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing. Computer
literacy in MS Word-based programs is required. Must possess valid
driver’s license.
